Ulaanbaatar is the capital of Mongolia. It’s in the Tuul River valley, bordering the Bogd Khan Uul National Park. Originally a nomadic Buddhist center, it became a permanent site in the 18th century.
Mongolians share the same New Year as the calendar year on the 31st of December. Similar to the west, Christmas is widely celebrated with Christmas tree, people don in Santa Claus outfits, street light decoration throughout the city. The whole city comes alive with wild celebration and vibrant nightlife. In the countryside, herders gather to give importance to this holiday. On the New Year’s Eve, one can expect all to gather at a neighbour’s Ger in celebration to enjoy the feast prepared - tables with salad, “Buuz” (traditional bun), candies and not to mention drinks, drinks and more drinks. The celebration continues with the President of Mongolia addressing his nation on TV followed by the nationwide New Year’s countdown. Experience the the joy of what togetherness brings.
Upon arrival at the Chinggis Khaan Airport, you will be greeted by our guide where you will be transferred to the hotel, central of Ulaanbaatar. Free and easy for the rest of the day. In the evening, dinner will be had at a local restaurant together with your personal guide – Mongolian Cuisine, introducing the first flavours of Mongolia.
Our tour starts with the visit to The Gandan Monastery, one of the largest and most significant sights found in the city. Built in the mid 19th century, it currently has over 200 monks in residence and the temple features a 26-meter-high majestic gilded statue called Migjid Janraisag.
Next, we take a drive up to The Zaisan Hill – Over there lies The War Memorial Statue, which is located in the south side of the Ulaanbaatar City, right beside the Bogd Khan Mountain which boast the best view of the city and the surrounding hills. At the Bogd Khan Mountain, stands a 15m high golden statue of Buddha beside the hill and a memorial statue on the top of the hill honoring soviet soldiers who fought against foreign invaders in the terrriority of Mongolia and Manchuria in 1939-1945. At noon, we will head to the Chinggis Khan Square - State Parliament House* where lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

Free and easy for the morning. the day at the Winter Palace of Bogd Khan Museum. The complex was build between 1893 and 1903 dedicated to the 8th Bogd Javzandamba, the head of Mongolian religion. The palace museum consists of seven Summer Prayer temples and the winter palace. The collections of the museum include unique and valuable objects related to Mongolia’s political, religious, and artistic history from the 17 to early 20th centuries.
